Cats love rabbits. I never had any rabbit problems because my cats kept them out. I lived out in the desert in Nevada where the rabbits and squirrels were a real problem. Everyone else had problems but not me. The cats do their job better than anything else.
Moth balls, blood-meal work very well. If u live in the country u could just pee on them. Many hardware stores sell a rabbit repellent. The dog idea sounds good, but a cat will kill off the birds too! Trapping is expensive unless u know how to build a rabbit gun (trap). And trapping requires u to have a hunting license. (different from state to state) And may be illegal if u live in town, plus the only time u can trap is during trapping season, unless u get a special varmint permit (again different from state to state).
If u can wait till this fall, fried rabbit, & rabbit stew r delicious.
If you do have dogs, empty the vacuum bag out in the yard.
If not... get a shot gun and wait until you get a moon lit night.
Or get plastic deer fencing and plastic posts and set them around your garden, make sure you have tent stakes at th bottom.
Must be big rabbits. Sure its not armadillos digging holes? Just shoot any unwanted rabbits and if that bothers you eat them that way there was a purpose in their death. Personally I live and let live. Rabbits and armadillos I tolerate. I love to watch them. The deer are the same but they really eat and its an aggravation. I put a radio in the yard and played it 24/7. The deer loved the music. Oh well.
Keep filling the holes with dirt. Hopefully they move on.
I have foung that moth balls keep them out among other things such as snakes, bugs and sqiurrels out, just make sure your daughter knows they are not something she can eat.as they are poison but does the trick. Good Luck!!
Lure the rabbit or catch, or you can set up stickies.
Ditto on the bloodmeal. You will need to apply more after it rains, though.
put traps
A farmer friend of mine uses bloodmeal, and never has a problem. It is in any tractor supply store, I think. Just sprinkle it around your plants. It is not harmful to anything. The rabbits do not come near it.
Set up traps.Put up a trap and then, put a few carrots in it.lol.
an indoor outdoor cat will do nicely for your garden, they keep all sorts of pests out of mine!
Get a dog.
